Mamata Banerjee alleged attack details
A day following West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's fall at her Kolkata residence in Kalighat, the doctor's statement that the incident happened "due to some push from behind" caused confusion. To put minds at ease and deny the "push from behind" allegations, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released an update regarding the chief minister's injuries.
According to TMC leader Shashi Panja,
"...She (Mamata Banerjee) felt a bit dizzy and then collapsed, nobody pushed her from behind. After falling, she got injured; the doctor is looking into everything. Details will come out soon; checkups are going on. Everybody wants the well-being of Mamata Banerjee, however, taking the wrong meaning of this is injustice..."
After the fall, Mamata Banerjee was taken to the SSKM hospital for treatment of injuries to her forehead and nose. Pictures of the chief minister with a deep cut across her forehead were shared by the TMC official account.
Mamata Banerjee's accident explanation
“Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee reported to our hospital today around 7:30 pm with a history of fall within the vicinity of her home ‘due to some push from behind’. She had a cerebral concussion and had a sharp cut over her forehead and nose which was bleeding profusely," mentioned SSKM hospital director Manimoy Bandyopadhyay.
Mamata Banerjee alleged attack aftermath
Dr. Manimoy Bandyopadhyay tried to set the record straight by claiming that his statement had been "misrepresented" after his "due to some push from behind" comment caused chaos and conspiracy theories. ‘’It was this feeling of being shoved from behind that ultimately caused Chief Minister Banerjee to collapse. It is our duty to treat, and we have fulfilled that duty. What I said last night was misunderstood,’’ Bandyopadhyay stated.
The chief minister had three stitches on her forehead and one on her nose. No formal complaint has been filed regarding her fall, according to the police, who addressed the accident-related speculation. ‘’We have beefed up the security measures surrounding the CM's home,’’ stated the police.
